Kebab

Hi all again,

So Its sunday. I had a good day. I went out to explore the Latin Quarter today. I followed the walk in the TimeOut Book I got. It was called My Latin Walk. It was really relaxing. I loaded film last night so I took out the 4x5 and the digital. I only ended up taking like 2 frames film and like 100 on the little camera.

So now would be a good time to explain some of the ideas I've been having as to the direction I want to take my work this trip. Since I've created this blog Ive been thinking, I spent the past 2 years working in a very structured, very formal style of photography and eschewed the less formal more spontaneous work of some of my peers and other photographers. And now Im thinking that on this trip I'd like to take a break from what I usually do and explore some other forms of photography. Id like to approach this work in a really fun sort of way. Ive been kicking around the idea of being the "ultimate tourist" and making work that illustrates a really tourists point of view. Or a point of view that isn't a photographer in Paris.

So aside from that everything has been going well. We have our first class tomorrow and it seems pretty straight forward. I think its just demos on how to work the camera and dev film and beginner stuff so I think I'll be helping others for the first bit.

I really miss providence. This trip is alot of fun, and I know its going to get better - but Ive been feeling a little homesick. I know that this is going to be a fun trip, but I really feel like Im missing out from risd. This was the one reason I didn't want to go, I love risd so much and providence and the people I live with and my girlfriend and everything about school, and leaving kinda sucks. But im enjoying myself so far, its just weird being so far away and everything.

So yeah, Idk what else to say for now. I guess I could tell you what Im doing tonight. We went and got dinner and went out to find some wine. And now were just hanging around in our room for a few hours until this canadian bar opens at 11:30. I think we'll go there for a few hours and have some fun then come back home. I'd like to be in bed by 3, class at 10. That seems about right.
