Good Day

Mmmm Wednesday, Today started like most other of my days here – I get up, read my email(s) from Minali <3 and get ready for class. It was nice, exceot for the rainy gloomy part that was greater Paris. I don’t know how anyone lives here during the winter, sure it seems to be pretty temperate, but its so gloomy almost all the time, OH and I don’t know if I mentioned it before but its not light out until 9:30am….What is that about!?! Anyways, I get off to class around 9:30 and really all I had to do today was edit some photos – everything Ive posted so far has been pretty unedited straight off the camera, so I took some time today and worked on them. ALSO I managed to borrow my teachers medium format camera, a beautiful Mimiya 6. Which Im very excited to use. Ive never shot 120 film before and I think it’s a perfect format for the sort of documentary work I want to be doing on this trip – Lightweight and small, but large negative and sharp!
I worked until about 12/12:30ish then embarked on a long jouney home. Today finally I was hungry at lunch, so I decided Id go back to the hostel and drop my bags off and get lunch then head back to school and meet up with everyone for a tour of some museums and galleries. So I got on the metro at Faideherbe/Chaligny to transfer at Daumesnil but I totally spaced out and the train stopped for like 5 min and I ended up like 2 stops past there at Port Doree. So that was a pain; but I finally got back on track (not pun intended) on the 6 line headed to the hostel. I got off at Corvisart and went to the Boulangerie to get a Ham and cheese sandwich for lunch ☺ (which I might add I did all in French and got a drink and there was a huge line and I didn’t hold the line up at all, I felt very proud!!). So I went back and ate then left like 10 min later to go back to school to meet up with our class. *I should note that every wed and thurs our class in the afternoons goes out to museums and galleries on a tour. So we went out with this very typically somewhat old frech women, who was nice and very knowledgeable but very snoody and typically French. But it was a lot of fun, we first went to the Jeu De Paume to see a Andre Kertesz show….Which was AMAZING! I love his work, mostly his work from the 1920s in france, but I also adore the Washintion Sq park photograph! It was a real treat to see real original prints, very exciting! Then next we went to see a very contemporary filmmaker, Marcel Diderot (I think) at the Gallerie Les Filles Du Calvaire – Which was really interesting and inspiring. Most of the work was videography from the ocean looking at architecture.
Then we all walked around the Marais for a while and went home. It was a long day – lots of walking, seeing and enjoyment but I was glad to get back to the hostel. Ive been pretty tired tonight, and since I don’t have class in the morning tomorrow Im going to take it easy and go to bed early and sleep in – maybe get a nice French breakfast tomorrow!!!!
While I still miss home and providence, Its been getting better. Mostly because the time has started to speed up since Ive been getting into a routine more. But I still miss it all, and I think writing this blog is helping too! Im really looking forward to shooting with the medium format camera, and posting those pics. But for now Im just going to go to bed!

Goodnight all!
